Trollstigen is one of Norway's most famous road facilities and has a long history as an example of Norwegian engineering. When the road opened in 1936, it represented a significant technical and social investment. With eleven hairpin bends, steep mountainsides and large variations in weather and ground conditions, Trollstigen is still a facility that places high demands on both planning, construction, operation and maintenance.
The NITO pensioners in Møre og Romsdal invite you to an eventful trip up the mountainside. Along the way, you will receive professional briefings about the road construction, both about the current situation and the plans for the future.
Kristian Bjørdal from the county road office briefs on the operation, maintenance and improvement of Trollstigen. Among other things, you will hear about the immediate measures that were implemented in connection with this year's opening of the road.
There will also be information about:
- radar warning at Trollstigen
- Plans for toll financing
- Further maintenance and improvement of the road system
At the top of Trollstigen, there will be an opportunity to eat and get a closer presentation of Trollstigen.
Personal guide at Trollstigen
Edmund Meyer meets us at the top and gives a lecture in the restaurant at Trollstigen. He also acts as a personal guide and can join the bus on the trip up, where he tells us about Trollstigen and the surrounding area.
Practical information
We start the day by bus from Ålesund and drive via Moa, Digernes, Sjøholt, Furneset and Åndalsnes before the trip goes up Trollstigen.
Bus departure:
- Skateflua, Ålesund – at 09.00
- Moa – at 09.20
- Digernes – at 09.30
- Sjøholt – at 09.40
- Furneset Ferry Quay – approx. 10.10
- Åndalsnes railway station – approx. 11.00
Return follows the same route if needed.
